What to Expect

My name is Dia, and I am an aspiring YA author from Portland, Oregon. I love writing action driven stories with a nice dose of comedy, suspense, and romance. The genres may vary from paranormal to sci-fi to high fantasy, but don’t expect any literary, historical, or non-fiction. Some of my favorite authors are: JK Rowling, Laini Taylor, Leigh Bardugo, Sabaa Tahir, Rick Riordan, Sarah J. Maas, and Ilona Andrews. If you like them as well, great! You’ll know exactly what you’re getting into. If not, look them up. Seriously, I’ll wait. They’re fantastic.

The main story that I will be posting here is called Renegade. I’ve been working on it since high school, which is mostly a good thing, but also a little bad. I know the characters better than some of my good friends – I should, I created them – but that also means there are a lot of early drafts that will NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE see the light of day. I might have guest authors in the future, but for now everything posted here will be original content from yours truly.

Unfortunately, I do have a full time job, so I can’t devote as much time to writing as I’d like. (Stupid capitalistic society.) So I’ll start posting in August, and the schedule will probably be 1 chapter every 1-2 weeks. If that changes at all, I’ll let you guys know.

Don’t be afraid to leave comments or ask questions. I’ll try to get a summary/synopsis thing written and posted in the next couple of days, and hopefully it won’t be too corny. (All I’m saying is there’s a reason why marketing teams are in charge of that kind of stuff. Summarizing is hard.) But in the meantime, I’ll leave you with this fun tagline:

Renegade: a modern day Romeo and Juliet with less hormones and more politics. And everyone’s a shapeshifter.
